Sacred Heart’s Glyndon Area Players is excited to announce our Summer 2023 production – Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man. Coming off its successful run on the Broadway stage, we are thrilled to bring to life the story, taking place around 1912, of a traveling salesman, Mr. Harold Hill, who comes to a little town in Iowa to sell band instruments. He is kind of slick and wants to slide into town and make a lot of money then quickly leave. However, he falls in love and gets trapped. The town is very stiff and doesn’t want to really get to know him, but he changes the town and the town changes him. In the end, there is a lot of new growth in the town, and everyone is changed by one another when they realize how much they can impact each other, if willing to see the positive. The narrative is a love story that is funny, clashing of worlds, amazing dance numbers, a recognizable score, and don’t forget the trombones! It is definitely a musical you’ll want to go see!
After being selected as the Summer show for 2020, the pandemic brought all our plans to a halt. We had all the posters, postcards, yard signs, t-shirts, and scripts ready to go; unfortunately, we had to cancel our 2020 Season. After celebrating our 25th Anniversary with last year’s successful run of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, we welcome you to our 26th Season and Meredith Willson’s The Music Man!
